At Blackstone Roofing, we like presenting our customers with options to give their roof a unique look so that they can stand out in their neighborhoods if they so desire.
The above and to the left pictures (above two on mobile) feature two distinct upgrades available for any roof we replace. The first of which the the Owens Corning® Berkshire® line of shingles. These shingles are typically found on high end homes and commercial buildings such as banks.
Berkshire is a laminated slate-look shingle with a large 8-3/8″ x 8-1/2″ tab and shadow lines behind the tabs to add to the dimensional look. These shingles give homes a classic, timeless look that ooze elegance.
The next option these pictures feature is the open-cut metal valleys. This is the most water resistant valley type available. Additionally, it gives roofs a unique and classy appearance. There are many different color and material options that can be employed here. We also use Ice and Water shield underneath the metal in these valleys for the pinnacle in water resistance.
An option to match the copper open-cut valleys would be copper counter flashing on sidewalls, headwalls, and chimneys. Copper (colored or real) gutters are available to boot.
Our next optional upgrade can both help your roof survive a hailstorm and reduce your Homeowner’s Insurance premiums. This is the Owens Corning® TruDefinition® Duration STORM® series of shingles. Just as the Duration line of shingles do, this shingle comes with the patented SureNail® technology. However, this shingle is more durable and has patented WeatherGuard® technology and meets the UL 2218 Class 4 Impact Resistant requirements for roofing systems. This has some significant performance benefits over other Laminate Architectural shingles.
State Farm and several other insurance companies are starting to offer insurance premium discounts for houses with these roofs. In many cases, these discounts can pay for the upgrade to this shingle. Check with your insurer or competing insurers for details.
The two pictures above feature Owens Corning Decoridge. Decoridge is a Hip and Ridge cap shingle that is used in place of OC’s Duraridge or Proedge products in order to give the roof a more distinctive dimensional look. It is a noticeable and affordable way to set your roof apart form your neighbors’. It can also be used on all of the rakes of your roof (side edges, pictured above-right) for an even more exclusive appearance.
In addition to these appearance options, we also offer the option of using Ice and Water shield around all of the rakes and eaves (usually used in areas where ice damming is possible) as well as using a double layer of synthetic felt. If you have questions about any of these options or would like a quote, please feel free to contact Blackstone Roofing at your earliest convenience.
